HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT DEVIL'S BACKBONE: THE INVISIBLE WALLS OF SEVEN MILE?
I knew of Devil’s Backbone in its infancy stages, when it was still a movie script. One day, soon after it became a book, George approached me to help with a music accompaniment for the text. As time went on, we workshopped ideas and eventually decided to produce a full-cast audio play fit with sound effects and music.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A VOICE ACTOR?
I am a video game designer by trade, so the art of voice acting has always interested me. Recording hundreds and sometimes thousands of pages of dialogue and making them feel authentic and emotional is crazy. Stepping into the vocal booth, I realized just how difficult it actually is. You have to portray your emotion through your voice and your voice alone which is not the first thing you think about when someone tells you to act ‘surprised’ or ‘angry’. You really have to think about how you sound when you are really living those emotions. I love that I have had this very challenging and unique opportunity to become a voice actor!
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE BOOK?
This book will entertain a lot of people. This book will inspire a lot of people. No matter what, everyone will take something from the experience.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE STUDIO?
It was great! It is very different being behind the mic as opposed to being at the controls. It is like you are in your own world - just you and the page and all the voices in your head haha.
